Examination (Disputation)
Once you have successfully completed your doctoral studies and finished your dissertation, you can apply for admission to the doctoral examination. Please contact Martin Ertelt to discuss the exact procedure in accordance with the examination regulations that apply to you. Please note that you must remain enrolled in the doctoral degree program until the disputation.
Once the reviews of your dissertation have arrived at the Dean of Studies' Office, you will receive digital copies of these and a notification of the deadline for the reviews and the dissertation within the faculty. The oral defense can take place at the end of the review period. You and all examiners involved agree on a joint disputation date. Disputations are usually held in person and last approx. 90 minutes. However, they can also be hybrid, especially in the case of external assessors or examiners. Disputations are public university events and are therefore also announced on our website.
