In this workshop, international students learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI) in a targeted and reflective way when writing job applications in German. They are taught how to adapt AI-generated results to their own writing style and personal profile, rather than adjusting themselves to the AI. The focus is on the ability to critically analyze, further develop, and revise AI-generated texts so that they appear linguistically authentic and personal. Participants will explore step by step how to use AI tools to create cover letters and CVs, deepen their knowledge of structure and language conventions in these text types, and learn strategies for analyzing job advertisements and presenting their own strengths convincingly. The goal is to create professional German-language applications using AI that clearly, coherently, and convincingly reflect their own style and individual strengths.

Today, well-thought-out marketing combines emotion with information. Target groups are reached through skilful storytelling – i.e. credible stories – and bound to brands or products. Whether for a company website, a blog or in print magazines, professional copywriters are paid to achieve this effect. But what means do effective texts use beyond simple emotional messages? Using specific tasks and texts they have written themselves, workshop participants learn which basic strategies help to convince clients and readers alike. The focus is on topics such as content marketing, headlines with a bang and the question of what intercultural competence has to do with psychology?

This module is aimed at students who wish to prepare complex specialist content for a broader audience with an interest in the subject, as will be necessary in their future professional lives. The aim is for participants to familiarise themselves with the characteristic stylistic elements and linguistic realisation of popular science texts so that they can use them consciously when writing for a broader specialist audience. To this end, scientific text types are compared with selected popular science text types in order to highlight the characteristics and reading effects of the latter. Furthermore, students will productively apply the stylistic devices and linguistic elements they have learned by adapting their own scientific texts into popular science texts and making them available to a readership.
