Research Focus
I am a plant breeding researcher focusing on grain legumes. My main research goal is to identify efficient breeding methods to improve the yield stability of grain legumes, with the aim of increasing their use for human consumption.
My research is interdisciplinary crossing over genetics and breeding, ecology, and reproductive biology. My previous research focused on improving the use of heterosis in faba bean (Vicia faba ). I estimated paternal success and outcrossing rate, pollen characteristics, and the efficiency of pollinators.
My current work content is to develop and prepare a research proposal for DFG (or BMEL, BMFTR, GFPi) which will be on grass pea (Lathyrus sativus). Currently, in 2025, I am conducting preparatory trials for this future research project. In a second project (FABALOUS project), I study the combined effect of drought and heat on physiological and reproductive traits in a faba bean field trial.

Current project:
FABALOUS - Faba bean abiotic stress tolerance for improved yield stability (BMFRT-funded project, Förderkennzeichen: 031B1549D). Individual Research Grant ('Sachbeihilfe') with own temporary position (project leader)

Financial basis of Post-Doc contract: 'DNPW budget for doctoral students and postdocs' (formerly: Postdoc Pool)
Budget for current Post-Doc phase was acquired by Wolfgang Link and Antje Schierholt.
